Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, who has not played a down of NFL football, signs a mulityear deal with Nike worth millions.

The Champ
Arroyo’s Jackie Quinones won the girls state wrestling title at 189 pounds. Mt. View’s Inez Martinez was fourth in the 116 pound class, and Milagros Garcia was third at 170 pounds.
Others qualifying at state were: Arroyo’s Jade Harvey (138, 8th), Sierra Vista’s Angelic Ochoa (160, 5th), and Baldwin Park’s Jessica Villegas (189, 5th).

Prep Baseball
Arcadia shortstop Fernando Rosales homered and doubled in the Apaches 9-1 win over Arroyo last Thursday. Pitcher Joey Harmon, the school’s starting quarterback last fall, has hurled nine innings over the course of two game and struck out nine batters.

Prep Softball
Two freshman have sparked the San Gabriel Matadors to a 4-0 start. Marissa Cordova in two games has a earned run average under one (0.70) while Mariah Serna has collected five RBis and is hitting over .700 (.714).

Department of Income
Los Angeles Dodger left fielder Carl Crawford is scheduled to make $20,000,000 this season. Dodger right fielder Yasiel Puig is scheduled to make $2,000,000. Their 2013 stats:
In 435 at bats Crawford hit six home runs, collected 31 RBI’s, and stole 15 bases.
In 382 at bats Puig hit 19 home runs, collected 42 RBI’s, and stole 11 bases.
