On March 8, 2005 Temple City’s Ryan Tucker went the distance, throwing a no-hitter, and beat the St. Francis Knights 1-0.
Temple City scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the fourth when Devin Dearth knocked in Mike Mendoza. Tucker then made the run stand by striking out 10 and walking only two.
For the season Tucker would go 7-5 with a 1.19 earned run average, ten complete games, and 132 strikeouts in 82 1/3 innings of work. In June he would be drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Florida Marlins and embark on a professional career that saw him make his big league debut on June 8, 2008.
