Wildcats Take Temple City Win Elks Tourney

Monrovia scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back in an 8-4 win over Temple City Thursday to win the Arcadia Elks Tournament.

The Wildcats added a run in the third and two more in the fourth. Joe Mata had three hits and an RBI to pace the Monrovia attack while Eric Cox went two for four with a run scored. Jacob Arfman also had a hit and drove in two runs. The Cats had nine hits overall.

Temple City also helped the Monrovia cause by committing four errors.  Mata did the majority of the work on the hill throwing five innings and allowing three runs and five hits. He struck out seven and walked four in picking up the win. Nick Esparza finished up the final two innings and struck out three, walked one and gave up a run and two hits.

Monrovia is off to a 4-0 start on the season while TC fell to 3-1.
