Knights Jump on Falcons Early

Primitivo Gomez had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Knights.

El Monte, CA – Arroyo scored the first nine points of the game and jumped out to 20-8 lead after one quarter in a 66-53 win over Duarte Friday night at Vern Nelson Fieldhouse.

Primitivo Gomez led the Knights with 22 points including 16 in the first half as Arroyo led 32-22 at the break. Duarte could never get closer then the ten point halftime deficit before eventually falling by 13.

Ryan Tran, 17, and Edgar Lupercio 16, were also in double figures for Carlos Barajas’ team. The three combined for 55 of the Knights 66 points. Gomez also added 13 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Lupercio had seven boards and Jesus Garcia had five.

Tony Morales led Duarte in scoring with 17 points. Eddie Howard added 16 and Tyler Carter had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Arroyo improved to 6-5 with the victory while Duarte fell to 3-5.
