Mojave, CA- Runnng back Nate Tayco rushed for 148 yards on 18 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead Rio Hondo Prep to a 47-0 victory over Desert on Friday night at Edwards Air Force Base.

The second round Northeast Division win, their ninth in a row, advances the Kares to the semi-finals against St. Monica’s. The game will be played at St. Monica’s as the coin flip between the schools came up in Mariners favor.

While Tayco paced the offense, the defense was led by Dave Guerrero (17 tackles), Rico Perez (14 tackles), Jared White (12 tackles) and Jake Holguin (10 tackles).

Not only did the Rio Hondo Prep defense shutout the Scorpions for four quarters they also registered five sacks, two interceptions, and two fumbles. Through two playoff games this fall the Kares have outscored their opponents 104 to 6.

Gio Perez and Ty Loomis both added rushing scores. Holguin also caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Colby Rivera.

Rio Hondo Prep is now 10-1. Desert ended its season at 7-5
