El Monte, CA –

Arroyo’s Peter Aholoka scored three times Andre Kerkhoff returned an interception to the house, as the Knights get a resounding 42-7 win over visiting La Canada on Friday at B.L. Bergstrom.

Aholoka scored twice in the first quarter and again early in the second to give the Knights a 21-0 lead.

With 7:03 left in the half quarterback Nathan Coto connected with Kerkhoff on a screen pass that went 13-yards to paydirt. It was now 28-0 Arroyo.

Less than two minutes any dreams, thoughts, aspirations, or hopes of a Spartan come back were ended when Kerkhoff essentially “swept the leg” with a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Finally with 9:09 left in the third quarter La Canada got on the board when Andy Paynter took the ball from quarterback Robbie Fuelling and swept left. Turning the corner he went the distance for the Spartans only touchdown.

Jesus Calvillo closed out the scoring late in the same quarter with a 3-yard run for the Knights.

The victory improved Arroyo to 3-2 on the season, while LC dropped its fourth straight and fell to 1-4
