Thursday Night
Duarte (1-2) at Ganesha (0-3)
Falcons open league against Giants. Fresh off a bye, Jason Martin’s team will come out strong.
Prediction: Duarete 32 Ganesha 14
Monrovia (2-1) at South Hills (2-1)
Good match up. Both teams need to find out where they are, but truth is Huskies best bet is to get out of the first round of CIF, the Wildcats are playing for a third CIF title. M-Town comes out focused to get the W.
Prediction: Monrovia 24 South Hills 14
Friday Night
Arcadia (0-3) at Burroughs (0-3)
Well someone has got a win. Both have struggled on both sides of the ball, but the Apaches have a few more weapons.
Prediction: Arcadia 16 Burroughs 14
San Gabriel (2-2) at Rosemead (1-2)
This isn’t a question about the Panthers offense, but about how good its much talked about defense is. No matter the quarterback (Quintanilla, Valenzuela, Torosian) the Mats can put points on the board.
Prediction: San Gabriel 34 Rosmead 21
Alhambra (2-2) at South Pasadena (2-1)
Who are these teams? The Moors are slowly improving, but the Tigers can be the ’72 Dolphins one week and the 2012 Rams the next. Go with Alham in upset.
Predicition: Alhambra 17 South Pasadena 13
Roybal (3-1) at Gabrielino (4-0)
The Eagles get a team with a winning record, but should handle business and be undefeated entering league play for the first time since 2004.
Prediction: Gabrielino 28 Roybal 20
Maranatha (0-4) at South El Monte (1-2)
Last spring this look like a deluxe match up…Right now its looking like an episode of survivor. Can the Minutemen stay alive? Can the Southman survive until everyone is eligible and healthy?
Prediction: South El Monte 14 Maranatha 7
Gladstone (3-0) at La Puente (2-1)
Probably the biggest game this weekend. Middle of August, go Warriors all the way. Middle of of September? The Gladiators are the better team.
Prediction: Gladstone 41 La Puente 26
Workman (1-2) at Sierra Vista (2-1)
Go with the Dons. SV is the easiest, and most dangerous, team to overlook.
Prediction: Sierra Vista 35 Workman 7
Nogales (0-4) at Baldwin Park (0-4)
Winless teams, but look who they have lost to. The Braves have dropped games to El Monte, Gladstone, La Costa, and Baldwin Park. The Nobles have fallen to Rowland, Ontario, and South El Monte…(San Marino was legit).
Prediction: Baldwin Park 37 Nogales 15
Saturday
Verbum Dei (1-2) at Bosco Tech (0-4)
Teams open Del Rey League play, its going to be a long year for the Tigers.
Prediction: Verbum Dei 21 Bosco Tech 0
Rio Hondo Prep Bye
Temple City Bye
Arroyo Bye
El Monte Bye
Mt. View Bye
