The summer months are a great time to explore activities and events that are fun and entertaining. Several options that can definitely prove a good time are the 626 Night Market and the Monterey Park (MPK) Night Market. Both events have drawn big crowds to the San Gabriel Valley area.
For those unfamiliar with night markets, the concept derives from the popular night markets in Asia, where food vendors come together in an outdoors setting and sell their best products to the public.
The 626 Night Market got its start a few years ago in Pasadena, but quickly grew in popularity and needed a bigger venue. That’s when it moved to Arcadia at the Santa Anita Park/Race Track.
The 626 Night Market not only sells food. There are musical performances, an art walk, and vendors selling anything you can imagine. Guests can try out food such as musubi, ramen burgers, or stinky tofu while at the same time watching dance crews battle it out with their best moves. The 626 Night Market is a great event for all ages, and the next one is coming up pretty soon on August 15th – August 17th.
The 626 Night Market isn’t the only night market in town. The city of Monterey Park has also joined in on the fun, with the city’s first-ever MPK Night Market held on July 25th.
Presented by the Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce, the MPK Night Market was held at Barnes Park. Several familiar vendors from the 626 Night Market, including Fluff Ice, The Mighty Boba Truck, and Swirls Potato and Lemonade were on hand to provide food enthusiasts with an assortment of delicious cuisine.
There was lots to see, including the Collective Aesthetics Live Art Show and Body Painting, the 626 B-Boy Dance Battle presented by 626 MoveMeant, and a Beatles tribute show from Abbey Road.
The first-ever MPK Night Market was a great success for the city of Monterey Park. It was an event that provided fun, entertainment, and food for all ages to enjoy.
