Congratulations to Longden Elementary School’s hard working Robotics Team for taking the first place Research Trophy in a recent practice tournament in La Canada.
Longden’s team researched this year’s topic, natural disasters, and decided the lack of fresh drinking water is a major concern. Students visited an experimental desalination facility in Hermosa Beach, researched current filtration technologies, and met with scientists who work in the field of water supply and water resource management. The students’ unique solution was a mobile desalination unit that can be located at the coast, driven to an affected area, and can filter water while on the move. Judges were impressed with Longden’s desalination research project.
Longden’s team is comprised of students in grades 4 through 7.
