Jeff Cox, Candidate for El Monte City School District’s Governing Board

My name is Jeff Cox and I am seeking a seat on the El Monte School District Governing Board.

I grew up in a family that made education a priority. My mother is a retired teacher who taught at Cleminson and Cherrylee. My wife and my sister are also teachers. I’m the proud father of two and they are the 3rd generation of my family to attend schools in El Monte.

I attended Cherrylee, Durfee, and Arroyo and I’m thankful for all of the opportunities that came from attending these schools. After graduating Arroyo I attended Cal Poly Pomona University where I studied Management and Human Resources.

As a parent, I feel we need schools that have strong academic programs to help our children to achieve their full potential.

Our schools have wonderful teachers. What we don’t have is control of our budget. For over 20 years I’ve worked in Information Technology. I manage large project budgets, prioritizing and stretching every dollar, and being accountable for what we achieve. I believe those are the skills we’re going to need on the board to help make our schools successful.

If elected I would:

·       Make sure we spend our money improving our schools and building up our reserves.

·       Retain our wonderful staff that is responsible for educating and supporting the children of this community.

I’d appreciate your support by voting for Jeff Cox on November 5th.
