Jonathan Hawes: El Monte City Clerk

Jonathan is a 33 year life-long resident of El Monte who is actively engaged in our community.  For over a decade, Jonathan has devoted himself to civic volunteerism and involvement to make El Monte a better place to live.  He has built a foundation of leadership with the many organizations he serves which all share the same goal; to enhance the lives of our residents.

Jonathan serves as a Commissioner for Community Affairs, Ambassador for the El Monte/South El Monte Chamber of Commerce, Past-President for the Kiwanis Club and Board of Director for 3 non-profit organizations, which share the common mission in providing resources for our youth and community. He spent 9 years as a Volunteer Officer with the El Monte Police Department VCAP Program and was notably awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2008. Since then, he’s received numerous commendations for his commitment to our community.

He believes a thriving city begins with elected officials actively engaging with the community.  He understands the demands of our residents can only be met through involvement.  Apparent city-wide dwindling resources should be addressed with open communication between our residents and officials.  His experience and collaboration with city entities will ensure the City Clerk’s office continually provides the resources necessary to better serve El Monte.
