Jessica Ancona, El Monte School District Board of Education Candidate
Jessica Ancona is a proud, lifelong resident of the City of El Monte and the parent of two children enrolled in the El Monte City School District. She has more than 13 years of experience in local education, both as a teacher and as an administrator, and will use her expertise to create policies that will benefit the students in the school district. Ancona is committed to improving student academic achievement, fiscal responsibility and safe schools, and will bring to the board insight and appreciation for the evolving educational environment.
While attending the University of California, Los Angeles, Ancona was challenged by one of her professors who insisted that she use her education and experiences to be a sound voice and a positive influence in her local community. In addition to obtaining her bachelor’s degree from UCLA, she has earned a Teaching Credential and Master’s in Education from Azusa Pacific University and an Administrative Services Credential from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
Ancona’s educational and professional background equips her with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to make sensible decisions which will improve the quality of education for the students enrolled in the district.
She has experience in curriculum and instruction, categorical programs and budgets, test and school administration and years of community involvement. With an appreciation and respect for the successes the El Monte City School Board has garnered, she will bring practical and relevant experience at a localized level.
