Temple City –
Temple City is the home of Shin Dance Academy, one of the top dance studios in the San Gabriel Valley. At the academy, they believe in sharing the love of dance and culture with their students. Its artistic director, Shin Yue Wang, founded the school in 1995 and moved to its current location in Temple City in 2001. Ms. Wang “is an award-winning performing artist” with over 30 years experience. She graduated from “Minzu University of China, one of the most prestigious schools in Beijing.” She also “served as China’s Art Culture Performance Ambassador to over 10 countries and was hailed by critics as the ‘Best Performing Artist.’”
The academy’s purpose is “to create an atmosphere of creativity and artistic expression for everyone, from children to seniors.” Currently, the academy has 18 teachers offering a variety of dances including: ballet, Chinese, ballroom, hip hop, yoga, and Zumba. According to the studio manager, Oscar Bustamante, “we strive to meet the needs of our students by building the kind of space that is safe, educational, inspiring, and nurturing. We pride ourselves in choosing a location that is local and easily accessible, making it possible for all of those in our surrounding area to strengthen their minds and bodies.”
I visited Shin Dance Academy and had the opportunity to watch a class. There were students of all ages and everyone appeared to be thoroughly immersed in their dance and enjoying themselves. One student named Jasmine wrote, “I have been dancing at Shin Dance for nearly 8 years and it’s now my second home; the teachers are great … and everyone is very nice.” The academy has received many prestigious recognition awards including several from the County of Los Angeles, City of Temple City, the Chinese Culture Research Center, City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Chinese American Association, just to name a few.
So “for those who love to dance,” you have found a home at Shin Dance Academy. Their new 10-month program will run from September 2013 to June 2014. Classes will begin on September 3, 2013. They are located at: 5839 Temple City Blvd., Temple City, CA 91780.
