Each year, the Los Angeles County Commission on Aging and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors proclaim the month of May as Older Americans Recognition Month. Mr. Armando Hernandez was born on February 6, 1939, and is a resident of El Monte. Armando served in the United Sates Army and in the Korean War. He is a loving father of three children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Armando enjoys spending time watching western movies and enjoying a glass of Kool-Aid when he is not volunteering his time at the El Monte Jack Crippen Senior Center.
As an important member of the Jack Crippen Senior Center, Armando has been volunteering for the center for more than three years. He joined the Durazo Club and as the current Vice President, is very essential in organizing events, dances, and fundraisers. Mr. Hernandez does a wonderful job helping his fellow citizens whole-heartedly. We are proud to nominate Armando as the 2013 recipient of the Senior of the Year award for the City of El Monte.
