Rosemead’s Kiwanis Food Bank Drive Successful

Rosemead

This year’s food bank support effort by Rosemead residents and members of the postal letter carriers union was an outstanding success, according to Norene Rand of the People for People Food Bank.  21 large industrial size bins were filled and trucked to the group’s warehouse, representing over 30,000 pounds of canned goods, packaged foods and glass containers. This was double the response to last year’s effort and will help insure adequate non-perishable food for distribution thru the fall.

Kiwanian John Tang helped coordinate the efforts of 16 RHS Key Club members in sorting the donated items at the Rosemead Post office while another 14 RHS Key Club members helped with efforts in Los Angeles.

According to John everything went smoothly although the effort took two hours longer than anticipated due to late arrivals and the sheer volume.  Norene and her staff of volunteers are grateful to all involved for their efforts. .
