Temple City High School Receives Awards for Musical Production

Congratulations to Temple City High School’s cast, orchestra, crew, and production staff for their 48th annual Broadway musical, The King and I.

Temple City High School students received top honors at the John Raitt Awards for Youth “JRAY” ceremony held on April 28, 2013.

Out of 18 high school productions, including many from performing arts academies,

Temple City High School received 10 nominations out of 25 possible categories and received two prestigious musical theatre excellence awards.

The King and I Orchestra, conducted by Bert Ferntheil, took the top honor for Best Student Orchestra.  This is the fourth consecutive year the Orchestra has received this recognition.

Judy Zhou won the Dancer of the Year Award and Max Ozer was presented with a $1,000 scholarship to continue his education in the Arts.

Max Ozer was nominated for Actor of the Year; Mackenzie Byers, Actress of the Year; Kevin Lazatin, Supporting Actor of the Year; Simon Chau, Stage Manager of the Year; Matt Byers, Director of the Year; Crew/Technical Execution; and Sound/Audio; and Lighting.
