Gidley School Holds Jog-A-Thon as Fundraiser

Gidley held its 2nd annual Jog-A-Thon recently. All students grades K-8 had the opportunity to participate by running, jogging or walking laps to raise money. Gidley’s goal was $10,000 this year. Actual monies raised were $6,200.00. The total number of laps ran by students was 13,435. Many parents and teachers walked and jogged with the students.
Local businesses that helped sponsor the jog-A-Thon and provided prizes as well as water for participants included Sir Pizza N Chicken, El Monte Police Department, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Shakey’s Pizza, Costco, Sam’s Club, El Monte Community Resources, Round Table Pizza, California Pizza Kitchen, UCLA, Citrus Performing Arts, Pacific Asia Museum, Festival of the Arts-Laguna Beach, Yogurtland, Whatever Tea Lounge, Huntington Library, Dr. Alex Liu-Optometry, EMCSD-Network for a Healthy California. Many parents and teachers also made donations to the effort.
A family four-pack of tickets to Magic Mountain was the prize for the most money raised by an individual. Other prizes included an Ipod shuffle, Dodger tickets, sports equipment and gift cards.
