El Monte, CA –  In a special Veterans Day celebration, the City of El Monte, local veterans, advocates, and Mercy Housing are honored past, present, and future veterans with a ceremonial groundbreaking event.  The event marks the start of construction on a $12 million, 40-unit comprehensive apartment development for veterans – the first of its kind in the San Gabriel Valley. The apartments will be located at 11254 Ramona Blvd.

The El Monte Veterans Apartments will not only provide housing for veterans, but seeks to collaboratively address long-standing veteran issues. Case management, health and wellness programs, job training, family reunification and legal services, transportation support, among other services, will be available on-site for residents.

The three-story facility, located at Stewart Street and Ramona Boulevard, will house 40 studio apartments, each with a bathroom and kitchen, and various community gathering spaces.

In addition to the groundbreaking, the Veterans Day ceremony included a fly over by the Condor Squadron and a Color Guard presentation.
