News of the San Gabriel Valley since 1966.

A toast of sparkling apple cider was enjoyed by the principals, teachers and instructional aides of the Valle Lindo School District in celebration of their victory in meeting all 17 federal government Adequate Yearly Progress academic goals. Board members David Del Rio, Ruth E. Gonzales, Gloria Olmos and Superintendent Dr. Labrucherie made a special toast to the faculty and staff; Board members Richard Angel and Rudy Martinez sent congratulatory messages.

The San Gabriel Tribune acknowledged that the Valle Lindo School District was the only District within the surrounding 37 Districts to meet 17 out of 17 criteria, including proficiency in English language arts and mathematics for all sub groups.  The Board and Superintendent acknowledged that it takes a committed team of dedicated employees including principals, teachers, and classified staff, along with motivated students and caring parents to have the success that has been enjoyed by the Valle Lindo School District.

Following the congratulatory celebration, the teachers and instructional aides went right back to work at a District provided professional development inservice to learn more about the new upcoming federal Common Core Standards and Project Based Learning.  Teachers Elizabeth Evans, Donna James, Sharon Layne, Dao Liu, and Candice Ryder provided the inservice after a training session by Los Angeles County Office of Education.
