Food Shortages in the SGV – Easy Ways You Can Help
Month of November
Public and private donations to food pantries are dramatically down in 2012, but in the long economic downturn, more and more families have been impacted and are in critical need of food assistance. The upcoming holidays are a time not only of great need, but also a great opportunity to help the hungry right here in the San Gabriel Valley for very low cost. The Irwindale Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a program to help citizens and businesses partner with the Chamber to support Cory’s Kitchen, a local non-profit that provides food to over 600 local families. Food donations, including frozen foods, can be dropped at the Chamber offices anytime between 9:00 AM Monday through Wednesday at noon, throughout the entire month of November. Food donations will be picked up weekly by the special refrigerated truck operated by Cory’s Kitchen. There is a particular need for frozen turkeys this year.
