El Monte, CA —Last Tuesday, Senator Ed Hernandez met with the staff of the San Gabriel Valley WorkSource Center (SGVWC) and toured the facility. The SGVWC is operated by Goodwill Industries of Southern California and provides a valuable service to those seeking employment in the San Gabriel Valley. With the unemployment rate in the Valley at 14.8%, the SGVWC and the Employment Development Department (EDD) work in partnership to reach out to employers in need of qualified potential employees. Craig Smith, President and CEO of Goodwill Southern California stated, “It is our goal to educate, train and certify our clients to prepare and place them in new jobs”.
Senator Hernandez further stated, “Education is our number one priority and legislators must be advocates in marketing these vital programs and getting the word out to our communities. My office is here to support these recruitment efforts, along with the EDD, the local Chamber of Commerce and numerous local Job Fairs. The SGVWC is located at 11635 Valley Blvd., Suite G, El Monte and services El Monte, South El Monte, West Covina, La Puente, Baldwin Park and Irwindale.
