El Monte Sorptimist International will host the afternoon Tea. From 1:00 to 2:00, refreshments will be served. The next Quarterly Tea and Program will be held on November 17, 2013.

A PUBLIC VOTING INFORMATION FORUM is being presented by The El Monte Business and Professional Women and the El Monte/South El Monte Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. 6:00 P.M. at the El Monte Community Center, 3130 Tyler Avenue, El Monte, California. An opportunity to meet El Monte City Candidates and School District Candidates from El Monte School District, El Monte Union High School District and Mountain View School District. The City Candidates Forum will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the School District Candidates Forum, three minute introductions, will start at 6:40 p.m. The program will be moderated by The League of Women Voters.
2013 SAN GABRIEL VALLEY BIKE TRAIN is a family-friendly, community bike ride the last Sunday of every month from 9am – 2pm. The starting point rotates monthly between Peck Road, Santa Fe Dam and Whittier Narrows and travels along the Rio Hondo and San Gabriel River bike paths. This Sunday, September 29, the starting point will be at Legg Lake, 776 Santa Anita Avenue, South El Monte, California. Riders will meet at the South side of the lake, near the dock. Free parking is located south of the 60 Freeway. Visit wwwBikeSGV.org for detailed information prior to each ride. For those who do not bike ride there is a Get Fit Club and also available is a Safety & Repaiar Workshop. Sponsors for the San Gabriel Valley Bike Train are: Kaiser Permanente, Rails to Trails, Real Good Solar and Hi Speed Printing. The Awards Dinner and Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the San Gabriel Mission District, Old Grapevine Arbor, 320 South Mission Dive, San Gabriel, California.
EL MONTE WOMEN’S CLUB will hold their Annual Membership Tea and Program on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the El Monte Community Center, 3130 Tyler Avenue , El Monte, California. The business meeting will begin at 11:00 A.M. Program Speaker will be Rosemary Morabito, San Gabriel Valley District Second Vice President and Membership Chairman. 2013-2014 Club Officers are: President Rita Cazares, First Vice President/Dean Co Chairs: Jane Myring & Millie Rawle, Second Vice President/Membership Chairman Esthela Siegrist, Third Vice President/Program Chairman Terri Oropeza, Recording Secretary Mavis Hansen, Corresponding Secretary Bonnie Jimenez, Financial Secretary Mary Jo Kolakoski, Treasurer Dorothy Denning and Parliamentarian Lorene Gutierrez. El Monte Women’s Club was organized in 1902 and is proud of over 111 years of community service. The El Monte Women’s Club is a member of the California Federation of Women’s Clubs and The General Federation of Women’s Clubs International. There is no charge to attend a club meeting and guests are always welcome.
